New England Patriots (1-1) @ New York Jets (1-1)

INJURY REPORT

1st HALF
The Jets took the opening kickoff and marched downfield on a 11 play drive that covered 75 yards with Aaron Rodgers finishing it off on 3rd & goal from the 4 yard line with a TD pass to Ty Conklin putting New York up 7-0 with 8:04 left in the 1st quarter. The Patriots had two possessions in the 1st quarter and moved the ball past midfield on each possession before the drives would stall outside of FG range resulting in punts. The Jets took over at their own 25 yard line with 0:01 left in the 1st quarter and Rodgers would hit Mecole Hardman with a short pass over the middle but Kyle Dugger stripped the ball out while making the tackle and Josh Uche would recover the fumble to give the ball back to New England at the Jets 31 yard line as the 1st quarter came to an end with the Jets leading 7-0

The Patriots had a short field to work with as they took over from the Jets 31 yard line and were into the red zone when Mac Jones hit Kendrick Bourne for a 16 yard TD pass but the play was called back as Trent Brown was called for holding. The Patriots were pushed back to the 33 yard line after losing yardage on a screen pass and New England would settle for a long FG as Chad Ryland drilled a 50 yard FG to cut the Jets lead to 7-3 with 8:58 left in the half. The Jets moved the ball into the red zone on the ensuing drive but were facing a 3rd & 10 and Rodgers would make a nice throw to Ty Conklin for a 17 yard TD pass extending the Jets lead to 14-3 with 5:35 remaining in the 2nd quarter. The Patriots moved the ball well on their next possession but the Jets defense would force New England to settle for a 29 yard FG from Ryland making it 14-6 with 0:59 left in the half. The Jets were moving the ball as they got to midfield with 0:17 left before Rodgers forced a throw towards the sideline that was intercepted by Marcus Jones who took it 55 yards for a pick six TD as the Patriots cut the Jets lead to 14-13 heading into halftime

2nd HALF
The Patriots received to begin the second half and Jones would hit Hunter Henry on a seam route for a 66 yard TD pass putting New England up 20-14. New York answered on the ensuing drive as Dalvin Cook broke loose for a 40 yard TD run putting the Jets back on top 21-20 with just over 9:00 left in the 3rd quarter. The Patriots moved the ball past midfield on their next possession but Jordan Whitehead intercepted a pass from Jones to give the ball back to New York with just over 5:00 left in the quarter. The Jets marched downfield on the following possession but the drive would stall in the red zone as Patriots rookie Marte Mapu broke up a pass in the end zone to Conklin on 3rd down forcing New York to settle for a 20 yard FG from Zuerlein extending the Jets lead to 24-20 with under 3:00 left in the quarter. The Patriots were marching on their next possession and had the ball with 1st & 10 from the New York 26 yard line as the 3rd quarter came to an end with the Jets leading 24-20

The Patriots drive would stall and Chad Ryland would drill a 43 yard FG to remain perfect on the season and cut the Jets lead to 24-23 with just over 11:00 remaining. The Jets came right back with another excellent drive as they were at the New England 30 yard line when made a great play on 2nd down to take down Cook for a loss and send Cook off with an injury setting up a big 3rd & 4 from the Patriots 33 yard line with 9:00 remaining. Rodgers dropped back on 3rd down and threw a pass to the left side to Garrett Wilson for what would have been a 1st down but Wilson could not hang on as Adrian Phillips arrived with perfect timing to deliver the hit and bring up 4th down. The Jets lined up for a 49 yard FG attempt and Greg Zuerlein would keep it inside the left upright for a big FG to extend the Jets lead to 27-23 with 8:51 left. Jones made a bad read on the ensuing possession as he tried to sneak a quick hit to Hunter Henry and threw a dart rather than putting some elevation on the throw and Adrian Amos came up with a huge interception to give the ball back to New York at the Patriots 35 yard line with the chance to make it a two score game. The Jets moved the ball and had 1st & goal from the Patriots 9 yard line but the New England defense would step up and force 3 straight incomplete pass attempts forcing New York to settle for a 25 yard FG from Zuerlein and keeping the Patriots within a score as they trail the Jets 30-23 with 7:27 remaining. Jones would connect with Henry for 23 yards to move the chains and Rhamondre Stevenson picked up 11 yards on a run up the middle to get the Patriots into Jets territory setting up 1st & 10 from the New York 43 yard line with 6:00 left. Jones would connect with Kayshon Boutte for 15 yards on a crossing route to get the ball to the Jets 27 yard line with under 5:00 to play. New England had 3rd & 8 from the Jets 25 and Kendrick Bourne had his man beat on a slant but the Jets defense was set up perfectly as Jordan Whitehead was positioned to step up from the safety position and Jones throws his 3rd interception of the game giving the ball back to New York at their own 23 yard line with just over 4:00 to play. The Patriots defense was going to need to come up with a stop and try to get the ball back in Jones hands and they did just that as they forced the Jets to 3rd & 4 and Bill Belichick dialed up the right blitz package as Marcus Jones came on the corner blitz and sacked Rodgers for a loss of 9 yards forcing the Jets to punt the ball back to New England who would take over at their own 35 yard line needing a touchdown as they trail 30-23 with 3:20 left on the clock and 1 timeout. Jones would connect on back to back plays picking up 48 yards as he hit Ezekiel Elliott out of the backfield for 21 yards and then threw a perfectly placed ball between 3 Jets defenders to Juju Smith-Schuster for 27 yards to give New England a first down at the Jets 16 yard line. Rhamondre Stevenson ran off tackle to the left side getting around the edge and made a dive for the end zone but was stopped just short of the goal line setting up New England with 1st & goal from the 1 yard line as we hit the two minute warning. Ezekiel Elliott would punch it in on the very next play and Ryland hit the extra point as the Patriots come back to tie the game 30-30. Ryland would kick the ball deep into the end zone and there was no return on the ensuing kickoff as Aaron Rodgers took the field looking to lead the Jets offense on a game winning drive as they start from their own 25 yard line with 1:58 remaining and all 3 timeouts at their disposal. The Patriots forced the Jets into a 3rd & 1 but Rodgers would hit Conklin over the middle for a big first down out to the 41 yard line with 0:57 left. Rodgers hit Landry to get the ball to the 50 yard line and they would use their first timeout with 0:36 remaining and then hit Cook out of the backfield to the New England 42 yard line and he would get out of bounds to stop the clock with 0:32 left. New York would hand off to Cook on two straight running plays that went nowhere setting up 3rd & 6 at the Patriots 40 yard line with 0:20 remaining and the Jets would run the clock down to 0:05 and call their final timeout as they would send out Zuerlein to attempt a 57 yard field goal to win the game. The Patriots defense stuffing Cook wound up being a factor as Zuerlein would hook the long FG attempt wide left and we would head to overtime with the score tied 30-30

OVERTIME
The Jets won the coin toss and would receive to start OT. Rodgers hit Mecole Hardman for a first down and the Jets were out to their own 40 yard line before Marcus Jones made a great read and stepped in front of a pass from Rodgers to Wilson for is 2nd interception of the game as the Patriots defense comes up with a huge turnover to give the ball to Mac Jones and the offense at the Jets 47 yard line. New England now only needs a FG to win the game and they would move the ball to the Jets 38 yard line after Stevenson was stopped just short of the first down marker on what was a questionable spot on 3rd down. The Patriots were unable to challenge the spot because all reviews are initiated from the booth in OT and New England would send out Chad Ryland to attempt a 55 yard FG to win the game. Of course, after giving me garbage spot on 3rd down, this ****** game starts with the shaking camera, gives me a horrible camera angle and fades away the meter and Ryland missed wide left keeping the score tied 30-30 and giving the ball back to the Jets on their own 45 yard line. The Jets took over and Rodgers hit Garrett Wilson to move the ball to the Patriots 20 yard line and they immediately sent out Zuerlein for a game winning 37 yard FG to give the Jets the win as they hand the Patriots a crushing 33-30 OT loss

NEXT WEEK
* The Patriots will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Week #4. The Patriots are 1-2 on the season and Cowboys are 2-1 on the season

* The Patriots are pretty banged up on the offensive line as they were already missing (RG) Michael Onwenu coming into todays game against the Jets and lost both (LT) Trent Brown and (C) David Andrews to injury. New England will go into their Week #4 game against a stout Dallas defense missing 3 of thir 5 starters on the offensive line
