According to a recent study involving more than 300 terminal cancer patients, those who die at home do so more peacefully than those in a hospital or intensive care unit. Moreover, the study found that caregivers of patients who died at home were less likely to suffer emotionally themselves. The caregivers of at-home patients were less likely to suffer from prolonged grief disorder, an intense, disabling form of grief that lasts more than six months.

At-home hospice care was found not only to save money over conventional hospital care when it came to treating terminal cancer patients, it saves them physical and emotional pain, as well. J.C. Billy the Kid, also known as William Bonney or Henry McCarty, was shot to death by Sheriff Pat Garrett in July 1881, a few months after escaping from the Lincoln County jail where he was awaiting hanging for death. He killed two deputies while escaping, but pardon request does not cover those deaths. McGinn, knowing interest in the Kid, offered to look into the issue this summer. He said responses, pro and con, came from people familiar with the legend of Billy the Kid, as well as from people knowledgeable about the territorial era and the Lincoln County War, in which the Kid and Brady were on opposite sides.

Some argued that circ*mstantial evidence points toward Wallace offering a pardon and said it was not implausible since Wallace pardoned other people involved in the Lincoln County War. Others questioned why Richardson would consider pardoning cop Witt said. E-mails, letters support pardon for Billy the Kid.
